Students of the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design course at Island VI Form have been busy preparing work for their final project, with an exhibition to be held in June.
For the first time in 2 years, the work of students will be showcased in an end of year exhibition at Independent Arts in the centre of Newport.
The exhibition promises to be both exciting and thought-provoking.
This year, students have approached subjects such as spirituality, female control, movement of dance, split personality disorder and other intriguing concepts. The students have created interesting and artistic responses to their research, working across the disciplines of sculpture, painting, photography, digital art, textiles and illustration.
Examples of miniature kimonos from Year 13 Fashion students’ will also be on display.
Course Leader for the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, Hannah Woodford, said:
“I have been so impressed by the commitment and professionalism shown by the students this year. It is clear to see the dedication and effort that they have put into their final projects and I can’t wait for everyone to see the standard of their work.”
The Private View will be on Saturday 11th June from 19:00-21:00 and the exhibition runs until Saturday 18th June. Independent Arts is open daily from 10:00-16:30.
