Beatrice Avenue in East Cowes has been closed by Police this evening (Tuesday) following reports of a road traffic collision near to St Mildred’s Church.
Police are on scene alongside colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service with an ambulance and an ambulance officer in attendance.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the rural stretch of road at around 18:25.
Island Echo understands 1 person has been arrested at the scene.
The road has been closed between Whippingham Road and Saunders Way which will remain closed until the blockage has been cleared. Recovery has been arranged.
Traffic is diverting locally via Whippingham Road.
UPDATE – The road has now re-opened in both directions.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – A 24-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
The male was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure following the crash, which involved a Renault Clio.
