A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a host of offences after Police forced entry to a property in Ryde in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
The initial 999 call came in as a concern for welfare call, however police also received reports of a domestic-related assault.
Officers made enquiries in Ryde late on Friday evening before attending and engaging with a man at an address in Newport Street at around 03:00. Once on scene, the man became threatening and aggressive towards officers.
After a number of hours, and when deemed safe to do so, officers forced entry to the address by smashing the window and safely removed the man from within.
Newport Street was cordoned off for a while whilst the incident was dealt with.
Following this, a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault, common assault of an emergency worker, making threats to kill, threatening to destroy or damage property, criminal damage and a public order offence.
The man was subsequently taken to hospital to be checked over.
The clientele in Ryde doesn’t get any better.
