A 34-year-old man from Shanklin has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to gain entry several places in Brightsone in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
Police were first called to reports of a number of incidents in Brighstone in the early hours of this morning (19th April).
Officers received reports that:
– A door at an address on Cotton Grove had been damaged
– Entry had been attempted to St Mary’s Church
– Entry had been attempted to Brighstone Village Stores
– Entry had been attempted to the Three Bishops pub
All incidents are said to have happened at around 02:00, with officers making an arrest at around 03:00.
A 34-year-old man from Shanklin has been arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson has confirmed that the arrested male remains in custody.
UPDATE ON SUNDAY – Police have confirmed that the male has been bailed with conditions, pending further enquiries.
