Gallipoli Company, the Island’s contingent of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force are holding an open evening in the West Wight. On Tuesday 30th April from 16:30, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the detachment in Freshwater and see if they have what it takes to be an Army Cadet! 4 Troop (Freshwater) is looking for young people aged 12-18 to come along and experience the activities that could be on offer to them as a member of the Army Cadet Force. Activities include field and camp craft, cooking and rations, first aid, a laser gun range as well as an introduction to lots of the equipment used by the Army Cadets. Refreshments and a recruitment video will also be available, and staff and existing cadets will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. The evening promises to give local young people an exciting opportunity to see what the Army Cadets does on the Isle of Wight. It is expected a number of VIP’s will also be in attendance. Registration for the event is not required, you simply are welcome to attend from 16:30 hours to 21:00 hours at the detachment which is located on Totland Recreation Ground, Broadway, Totland, Freshwater. Parents and guardians are also welcome to attend. The Army Cadet Force is a youth organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. For more information visit armycadets.com.
