More than 2 years after it was announced she was to become a Dame, the Isle of Wight’s Donna Langley this week received her Damehood from the Prince of Wales during a ceremony at Windsor Castle.
As Chairperson of Universal Film Entertainment Group in Los Angeles and the first British woman to head up a major Hollywood studio, Donna has been recognised for her services to film and entertainment.
It was announced in the 2020 New Year’s Honours list, on 31st December 2019, that the movie executive would be made a Dame Commander of the Order of the Britsh Empire. However, due to COVID travel restrictions, she has been unable to return to the UK.
Prince Charles bestowed Dame Donna with her honour at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. She was supported by her sister, Andrea Page.
Dame Donna’s journey became almost 30 years ago when she made her way to America and landed in Los Angeles, where she started work as a hostess in a restaurant to support her unpaid internship at a literary agency. It was here she met some interesting connections and established a career path. For the past 20 years, Donna has been working for Universal – a giant in the world of TV and film.
