An empty shop on Newport High Street is set to be transformed into a nail bar.
You will soon be able to polish up your nails in the former Wrights Estate Agency office, next to B&M, after the Isle of Wight Council approved an application from a Mr Tran.
In planning documents, agents Nova Architectural say the building is in a poor condition.
They said the plot was being wasted due to its prime position on the High Street, which was an ideal place for a nail bar.
In approving the application, the Isle of Wight Council’s planning officers said it would generate jobs and attract customers into the town centre.
Officers went on to say that given the number of retail uses near to the shop, it was considered it would not result in more nail bars coming into the area, harming its retail function, character or viability.
A Post Office would be rather more useful
Wont happen until they provide a sensible business model.
hopefully it will be a success for them – the town needs people to be entrepreneurial – without the council turning up with mountains of red tape and trying to rinse the business for as much money as possible.
So essential, people got no money to buy food, pay utility bills or rent but can have nail’s done , like have the latest mobile or JD trainers and Sky and Netflix’s. Seems we have got our priorities wrong . Maybe I am The new Mr Meldrew . Good luck to them anyhow.
There’s already plenty of nail bars in Newport and they don’t need competition also it won’t make me want to shop more in Newport
I wonder if that is his real name ?
Mr. Trans.
Just what we need. Not. Where are peoples priorities these days, get your heads out of Eastenders and all those god awful soap operas and join real life.
I always get my nails at Hursts.
