A 2-car crash – which has resulted in a callout for police, fire and paramedics – is blocking Briddlesford Road this morning (Saturday). The incident has seen a Ford Fiesta pulling out of Blacklands Lane and Suzuki Swift heading towards Lynnbottom, collide with one another, leaving both vehicles in the middle of the carriageway. Emergency service personnel were called at around 11:00. Several occupants of the 2 vehicles have been able to self extricate from the vehicle, with just a single ambulance from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service on scene. Island Echo understands that no injuries have been reported, despite the heavy damage sustained to both hatchbacks. It is understood that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene but they were quickly stood down, after it was discovered the collision wasn’t as serious as first feared. Briddlesford Road is currently blocked between Combley Road and Blacklands Lane, with recovery is expected to take place soon. This is the 3rd crash on Briddlesford Road this week.

Notorious junction. People seem to pull out of Blacklands Lane in front of cars travelling along Briddlesford Road towards the tip, go slow and then turn into Combley Road. This often happens if there are no other cars coming along Briddlesford Road!
I do hope all concerned are safe and not too shaken after the accident.
Yup, too many simpletons pull out without any foresight for the fact that they’ll be turning left after 100 meters
If vehicles were not speeding, such accidents would
not happen.
Briddlesford Road is a Road where motorists break the
Speed limit.
And how does your mystic meg ball tell you that they were speeding it is a 50!!!
I think you will find that stretch of road is 60mph.
Another DANGEROUS Island Road due to
Numpty’s speeding, this road like many others on the
Island need permanent efficient speed cameras installing.
20mph is plenty
Lol
No. What is needed is for drivers on Bridlesford covering their brake as they approach the junctions just in case some aged F wit thinks they can pull out and do 5mph in the path of a car doing 60 that is 20 Metres away…Clear case of driving without due care and attention. . 2x breathalyser 2x drug wipe and eye test for the Fiesta driver.. Or was it full of youngsters distracting the driver ? Who knows 🙁
Old fluffs again when are going to stop the OAP’s
Oh go crawl back under the stone you slithered out from
People like you are the problem on this island the Suzuki is not at fault at all so get your facts right before even bothering commenting you simpleton
Absolute melt
You’ve got 47 Chromosomes
Bet you love driving slow in school zones
Prick,……………………….
Stop looking in the mirror at yourself
Oliver.
Kindly, DO ONE!
Oh god! Are you still here?! I had a week off from the comments section. I was hoping you’d have given up by now!
Sarah I will never give up.
I will get my point across to the idiots who are running the island
They need to make our roads safe for everyone.
It is obvious we can not reply on motorists because they are
constantly breaking the Law.
Cllr Jordan and the 2 new Island MPs Quigley and Robertson need
to drive around the island and see for themselves what is happening.
Even in 20mph Godshill and Brading many vehicles drive at 40mph+
Speeding kills.
Even if we need to pay more tax to fund the Police so they can employ
more traffic Police.
I would impose an islandwide parking permit charge to help
pay for the speed Camera’s etc that are needed in this island.
Must agree And with the Bank holiday weekend and scooters around !!!! oh my feel sorry for the Medics and other services. I have seen so many drivers overtaking just prior to the junctions must have changed the rules since 2000 when I did m y advance high speed training with the Met police.!!!!. simple thoughts make sense. in bad light /rain see &be seen if in a hurry ,Leave yesterday I take not my life ,or others. stay safe enjoy life whist you have any money left !!!!.
Advance high speed training, what rubbish you speak, unless you were trained in the police you would not be doing that sort of driving and i know that for a fact.
You really are a halfwit, go back and play with your toys like a good little boy now and give mummy back her laptop.
Most cars 20 mph you would be in 2 nd or 3rd gear and polluting the air even more sounds like you don’t feel save to drive any faster
If only some drivers could DRIVE!
That junction has excellent visibility in both directions – it’s not the roads, it’s the drivers!!
Just to let you know white lives matter
They just want to join the ferries in causing havoc for people
Look judge speed don’t pull out till you are sure it’s safe to do so ,rules of the road. due and attention simple.
