A verdict of accidental death has been recorded following an inquest into the death of former Island student, Jamie Rolfe.
Mr Rolfe, 27, was killed when he fell down a deep ravine in the French Alps back in January 2011, nearly two years ago, while working as a chalet rep in the luxury Venosc resort.
Jamie, who had lived on the Island most of his life and went to Carisbrooke College, was found on the 27th January at the bottom of the ravine having suffered multiple traumatic injuries.
At the time of the incident, Jamie’s Family said:
“We’ll remember Jamie as a lively free spirit with a zest for life and an enthusiasm for travelling. He taught English to university students while living in China, and also visited Africa and South-East Asia.
“Jamie was a bright and talented son who was sociable with many friends in different parts of the world. His creative and artistic character meant he had an affinity for learning and playing music, and studied film at Falmouth University.
“He loved outdoor sports and it was a dream job to work as a chalet rep in the Alps, where he could also pursue his passion for snowboarding.
“We are shocked and devastated by the death of Jamie, who brought so much joy and happiness to our lives, and lived his life to the full by embracing exciting opportunities and adventures.”
