The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has touched down in Upper Ventnor this afternoon (Sunday) amid an ongoing medical emergency at a residential address.
Emergency service personnel were first called to the scene on Newport Road at around 14:45.
A plethora of resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are currently on scene.
Due to the severity of the incident the HIOWAA was scrambled from its Thruxton base at around 15:00, making its way across the Solent, landing at The Island Free School sports field.
As such were the blustery conditions the helicopter had to make multiple attempts to land.
As a result of the large-scale emergency attendance, Newport Road is currently blocked. Southern Vectis route 3 buses are also on diversion.
UPDATE @ 16:15 – Police have confirmed that they were called at around 14:15 to reports of concern for welfare.
Emergency services have attended and located a woman in her 20s suffering from a medical episode.
She has been taken into the care of the ambulance service and is being taken to hospital for treatment.
UPDATE @ 16:40 – All emergency service personnel are beginning to stand down from the incident.
