As the sun sets on another day, the life-saving work of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance continues – this time with a call out to the outskirts of Newport.
Flying medics have touched down in a field off Staplers Road – between Newport and Wootton – in response to a medical emergency at a nearby residential property.
It was at around 20:00 that the charity’s attention was drawn to the developing situation near to Butterfly World, prompting the helicopter to be scrambled from Thruxton.
The air ambulance – using a temporary replacement helicopter – is now on scene alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The aircraft touched down at around 20:20.
It’s the second shout to the Isle of Wight in as many days, with the air ambulance responding to Whitecroft Park near Gatcombe yesterday lunchtime (Friday).
UPDATE @ 21:01 – The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has now stood down from the incident, without conveying a patient.
The helicopter is now returning to base, ready for its next mission.
