The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) was scrambled straight from a medical emergency in Wootton to another incident in Niton this afternoon (Friday). As previously reported by Island Echo, HIOWAA was called to Wootton this lunchtime at around 12:30, tending to a poorly patient at an address of Brocks Copse Road. After assisting paramedics at the scene, the yellow-liveried stand-in helicopter then made its way South to the village of Niton landing in a field off Pan Lane. On the ground, 2 ambulances from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were tending an elderly casualty on the narrow one-track road. After around 60 minutes on scene, the patient was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance. Having walked back to the helicopter, flying doctors and the pilot then took off heading back to base at Thruxton at around 14:30. It remains unclear as to what injuries have been sustained by those involved.
