The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has become Sainsbury’s West Cowes new Local Charity of the Year.
The charity was voted in by customers in store and online with a total of 128 votes.
The Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Air Ambulance says it is their aim to provide an exemplary Air Ambulance service to the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, conveying patients to the most appropriate hospital for their needs.
To celebrate the announcement, a launch day will take place at the Sainsbury’s West Cowes on 31st July. Customers will get the chance to meet representatives from the charity and learn more about the work they do.
The store team will also be fundraising for the new charity by holding a fundraising weekend from 31st July to 2nd August with a rowing challenge outside the store in Cowes High Street from 10:00 on Saturday 1st.

The Local Charity scheme is now in its seventh year and this year for the first time, customers got the chance to vote for their favourite charity from a shortlist put together by their local store. The scheme has raised over £7 million to support local charities since 2009.
