The Post Office has agreed to move Sandown Post Office to the SPAR shop on Albert Road in the town on Wednesday 19th August at 13:00.
The current Sandown Post Office at Beachfield Road will close with the current postmaster’s agreement on Tuesday 18 August at 17:30. During the transfer the nearest alternative branch is Shanklin Post Office at Regent Street.
This move is part of the Post Office’s modernisation and investment plans for the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
Sandown will be a main Post Office with services provided from four modern serving positions. There will be two open plan counters and a screened position which will be open Monday to Saturday 09:00- 17:30. There will also be a Post Office serving point which sits alongside the retail counter, offering selected services, outside main counter times Monday to Saturday: 07:00-09:00 & 17:30-22:00; Sunday 08:00-22:00.
This is an extra 58 hours a week including all-day Sunday and Saturday afternoon. The branch will also open significantly earlier and close much later every day, making it more convenient for customers to visit.
John Perrett, the new Sandown Postmaster, says he will be delighted to welcome customers to his new Post Office and modernised store.
Will Russell Post Office Regional Manager, said:
“We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
