A man had to be rescued from scaffolding at All Saints Church in Ryde during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the unusual situation by Police at around 00:30.
Firefighters from Newport and Ryde were mobilised to the scene, where an assessment on how to rescue the man was undertaken.
It was decided that the best course of action was to use an aerial ladder platform (ALP) to reach the male, who was subsequently safely lowered to the ground. The ALP was set up on West Street on the East side of the church.
The rescue lasted less than 30 minutes.
Just as the incident was winding down, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to an electric heater fire in Sandown, as previously reported by Island Echo.

what was he doing up there at that time of night ? lead?
Just trying to get closer to god
He should be charged financially
I Would leave him there he was up to no good anyway
Another waste of space smack head on free handouts wasting our emergency services. They should have left him up there, he would soon come down when his snort ran out. These free loaders are the area where the cuts to benefits should be made. A working person gets best part of his wages deducted to contribute towards free handouts for lowlife scum. And the gov. wont by kids a hot meal. They need to get some priorities and principles sorted.
You need to control your kids Gaz
If he was called Kev I would of left him up there
Maybe they identify as ‘Karen’?
Check for missing lead.
WTF!!! Another waste of time, space and resources!!! Send them all to Ukraine or Palestine to see what real life os, and help unfortunate people and stop bloody moaning and wasting valuable tax payers money
Leave the idiot up there probably off his head waster
