Firefighters from Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor were mobilised to a flat fire in Sandown during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) when an electric heater fire resulted in the property filling with smoke.
At just before 01:00, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire within a ground floor flat of Yarborough House on Fort Mews, off Avenue Road.
3 appliances were mobilised with crews using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to contain and extinguish the fire.
Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke from the block of flats.
Thankfully, all occupants were able to escape uninjured.
It has been confirmed that an electric heater was to blame for the incident.
