AFTER a dramatic start to the 81st J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, ‘Actual’, a Multi-50 trimaran has crossed the finish line in Cowes, winning the 50 nautical mile race.

The trimaran, skippered by Yves Le Blevec, was amazingly just 1 minute 27 seconds short of the race record time, completing the course in 3 hours 9 minutes and 57 seconds.

Following close behind, ‘Prince de Bretagne’, another Multi 50, crossed the line in second place with ‘Leopard’, a monohull  Farr 100 ICAP, in third.

Olympian Ben Ainslie, at the helm of the outstanding Eleaonare 162ft schooner, crossed the finish line just before 13:55 this afternoon.
