The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has celebrated 50 years of its much-loved Steam Fair, with bumper crowds enjoying the milestone event over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Across 4 days, Havenstreet was filled with the sights and sounds of steam as towering traction engines, classic cars, vintage fairground rides and live displays delighted visitors of all ages.
Engines travelled from far and wide – some even crossing the Solent under their own steam – to take part. Special anniversary touches included traction engine games and a busy real ale bar, while steam-hauled trains linked the site with Wootton and Smallbrook Junction.
The golden anniversary fair has been hailed as the biggest and best yet, cementing its place as one of the Isle of Wight’s premier summer events.
