dualcarriagewayseriouscollision9A 40mph speed restriction on Medina Way in Newport is to be put in place from tonight (Tuesday) due to a damaged crash barrier.

The reduction in speed from 70mph to 40mph comes after a section of the central reservation has been deemed no longer sufficient to restrain vehicles travelling at the national speed limit.

The barrier became damaged following a road traffic collision over a week ago and comes just months after large sections of the Armco barriers on Medina Way were replaced, as previously reported by Island Echo.

The speed restriction will be in force from 21:00 tonight (Tuesday).
