4 men arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary on Pan Estate have been bailed, as Police continue their investigations into Monday’s incident.
Officers were deployed at 11:20 on 20th January to reports of an aggravated burglary at Furrlongs in Newport, which led to the arrest of 2 men.
Enquiries subsequently led Police to an address at Rookley Country Park – also known as The Lakes – where 2 further arrests were made, as first reported by Island Echo.
A 41-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, affray, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Another 41-year-old man from was Newport arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and two instances of theft from a shop.
A 37-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a Class A drug.
A 34-year-old man from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug – cocaine, aggravated burglary, driving with an alcohol level above the limit, and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
Of the 4 men arrested, 2 were taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment of injuries on their heads.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that the 4 men have been conditionally bailed until Sunday 20th April whilst enquiries continue.
Druggies need locking up, they will never be any
good for society.
I thought they were burglars.
