A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent following an incident in Gurnard last night (Wednesday).
Police were called to the Gurnard Pines area at 20:03 after reports were received of a disturbance at an address on Cockleton Lane.
On arrival, officers located a 28-year-old man with facial injuries. He attended hospital for treatment, but thankfully his injuries are not considered serious.
A 36-year-old man from Gurnard was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon – understood to be an axe.
He remains in custody at this time.

UPDATE FRIDAY – 36-year-old Lance Thomas Hopewell, of Cockleton Lane in Gurnard, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon in public (namely an axe). He was remanded in custody to appear before the Magistrates this morning.
