A 35-year-old man, who was dramatically arrested in Ryde on Monday, has been charged with multiple serious offences following an alleged hammer attack.
David Patrick Marsh, of Warwick Street in Ryde, has been charged with wounding with intent, attempted wounding with intent, wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assault by beating.
The charges relate to an alleged serious assault on The Strand in Ryde shortly before 21:00 on Sunday, in which a 20-year-old man is said to have been attacked.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a large Police presence descended on Warwick Street shortly before 15:00 on Monday afternoon, with officers surrounding a property on all sides before forcing entry.
With a police drone hovering overhead, 1 officer climbed a ladder to gain a vantage point into the rear garden as the operation unfolded.
Officers then used the ‘big red key’ to smash through a panel at the bottom of the front door, allowing them to climb through and detain the suspect inside.
Marsh has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear in court on 18th May.
