Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor have been mobilised to 2 jet skis stuck in the mud at Ryde.
The emergency crews are working to free the individuals using specialist mud rescue equipment.
3 people were originally high and dry but 1 has since self rescued.
Coastguards have cordoned an area of the sea wall near to the harbour to allow for a safe rescue using ropes and winches.
UPDATE @ 18:44 – The 2 individuals have been successfully rescued and are back on dry land.
It’s thought the jet skies will be re-floated at the next tide.
HM Coastguard is expected to stand down from the incident in due course once all equipment has been washed down and stowed.

Ha Ha Ha. If they cant even launch the things properly its a good job they didn’t make it out. Imagine these 2 twats on the water.
Saw them racing around the Solent this afternoon. The harbour can empty quickly near low tide. They need to keep an eye on tide times.
If its the same idiots that come in down appley beach full speed amongst swimmers, then on to the beach trying to look like someone from “The only way is Essex” calling over to there heavily made up women “Hey Babe” or “Princess” “Get me a beer” Before getting back on the jetski again full speed between swimmers. Finally towing them away in their bling VWs or Blacked out Ranger Rovers, baseball cap backwards, tattooed arm out the window, well if it was good hope the engines are shot.

Literally every jet ski rider seems to be a prat of astronomical proportions. Be it inconsiderate, stupid, loud or just with no redeemable quality at all.
These 3 were speeding up and down from Ryde Harbour this afternoon close inshore all along the seafront, without a thought for other beach or water users. That they got stuck on the mud because they left it too late to return to the Harbour confirms they have no concept of water safety or how to handle craft properly. Having now cost other people’s time and money to be rescued from their own ineptitude, after an afternoon of reckless behaviour, hopefully they have the decency to pay something towards the services that they so needlessly inconvenienced. It is fortunate there were so few swimmers around or this could have been a different news story entirely.

The fact one of them is taking a photo of the other whilst he’s being rescued shows the lack of respect overall that these 2 twats have for people who put themselves at risk to save those in need.. if I was called out to this and witnessed them doing that I’d have dropped the ropes.. pushed him off the board and packed all the gear up and left them to it.. blatant disrespectful twats!!
Good they are a pain in the arse they have no consideration for anybody else. Somewhere racing around the uprights of Sandown pier the other day, some one in water will get hit one day
Yet another example of jet skiers having absolutely zero knowledge and respect for the sea/tides etc. They are like annoying wasps and the vast majority often endanger other marine traffic! Idiots
All these numpties need to be reminded of the regulations.
“… no vessel, when navigating within the Harbour or (except for water-skiers and jet-skiers in an area for the time being designated by the Queen’s Harbour Master and marked by buoys) when within 0.5 nautical miles of the line of mean low-water springs in any part of the Dockyard Port outside the Harbour shall proceed at a greater speed than 10 knots through the water..”
On the Isle of Wight side, that covers from Sandown Bay to Old Castle point in East Cowes.
Half a mile out from the low water line is a long way off Ryde……..
And a huge waste of valuable resources needed elsewhere, should have left them to wait for the tide! Not that they would have known when that was!!!!

What a waste of resources,the way coast guard vehicles drive is reckless, very soon they will be involved in serious accident themselves with cyclists horse riders etc. Emergency to Ryde Harbour ? sure there were plenty people around that could if slung a rope to them, surprised they didn’t send fire service or a helicopter. They should of been told wait for tide or charge them few hundred pounds ,obviously got plenty money.
When I was a child, they used to display the high tide times on a board at the beach in Ryde. Does anyone know if that still happens? I remember running to the beach in the summer to find out what time it was. That was 40+ years ago though.
They were in no immediate danger. So let them sit there until the tides comes in.
