27-year-old David Berridge has been charged with robbery following an incident at Rashley’s Premier Express in Cowes earlier this week.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called to Park Road on Tuesday afternoon following reports of a robbery at the corner shop.
An amount of cash was stolen from the tills after a staff member was threatened. The money was subsequently located by Police in a nearby hedge.
Hampshire Constabulary have now confirmed that David Berridge, of Cockleton Lane in Gurnard, has been charged with robbery and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court this morning (4th June).

Now throw the book at him.
Personally I’d recommend a hardback copy of one of the LOTR trilogy.
Yea literally throw the book at him….scum bag low life
Give him custodial sentence if guilty
The trauma inflicted on victims caused stress and feelings of insecurity and destroys self confidence.
It is not just a property offence but is also a case of mental health assault and should be punished as such.
These irresponsible louts need to be taught a lesson. They do not respond to lenient sentences. They need to learn we will not tolerate their aggressive behaviour.
Bring back village stocks for the scum
