A 19-year-old man has been arrested, questioned and bailed in connection with a serious assault outside the Travelodge hotel in Newport during the early hours of yesterday morning (Friday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to Lugley Street in the centre of Newport at 01:38 yesterday to reports of an assault having occurred at the main entrance to Travelodge, as first reported by Island Echo.
Officers responded alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, with a man in his 20s later conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with head and facial injuries.
A cordon was erected as investigations got underway but no arrests were immediately made.
Now, Police have confirmed that a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH).
He has since been bailed as enquiries into the incident continue.
The teenager is due back at the Police station on 14th June/
