Police are investigating the theft of tools worth some £16,000 from a building site in Bembridge this week.
Thieves entered the McCarthy and Stone site at the former Staddlestones Garage in Church Road overnight sometime between 17:30 on Monday and 07:30 on Tuesday morning. They broke into a secure unit and stole around £16,000 of tools belong to contractors working on the site.
It’s believed a large vehicle would have been required to transport the tools away and that it’s likely that more than one person was involved.
The items taken include carpentry tools made by Dewalt and Makita and a Theodolite laser measuring tool worth around £10,000.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles or activity around the area on the night. They’d also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered any of the tools for sale.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call PC Edward Stenning at Shanklin Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
