A 16-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in Ryde during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police have cordoned off the seawall at Puckpool Park as detectives investigate the serious assault, which occurred shortly before 01:30.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the teenager has suffered stab wounds to his abdomen. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment, but thankfully his injuries are not life threatening.
An 18-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
An area of Puckpool Park remains cordoned off this morning as investigations continue.
A scenes of crime investigator is gathering evidence and photographs from the scene.

Put a police presence about, not an isolated incident, ask the early morning beach cleaner about all the vandalism etc, violence is a natural progression path if these idiots are not reported/punished, although tbh the Island courts would probably issue them trainers and cider as a deterrent, justice on the IOW is a joke recently.

I do not see a party that wishes to remove access to social housing and the National Health Service for those with criminal records, or euthanasing drug addicts and suppliers. No one recommends the return of corporal punishment for both school children or their parents. Aggie, the 16 year old boy is still a minor, a child. His parent or parents are legally responsible for him, it’s the law. Are his parents chavs and don’t give a sh*t what he gets into?
Any parents that let a 16 year old out at 01:30am in the morning should be taking a very long hard look at themselves. The thug with the knife should get an immediate prison sentence and not a slap on the wrist as is usual.

Start being a good parent for God sake. You are responsible for him as you bought him into this world. And as for the 18 year old who was carrying the knife, what sort of upbringing did he have? His parents seriously need to step up and sort him out!!!!! Thugs RUS seem to be springing up everywhere. I hope the lad has not suffered any serious internal injuries and makes a speedy full recovery. Perhaps the stop and search rules need to be relaxed a little so that the old bill can do more to ensure teenagers are not tooled up.
