The Trustees of the Mike Howley Trust are welcoming young Island creatives to apply for up to £1,500 to help them realise their artistic ambitions.
Mike Howley, who worked for many years as Director of Cultural Services for the Isle of Wight Council, died in May 2013, leaving part of his estate “for the specific benefit of aspiring young actors, musicians, dancers, and writers, between the ages of 18 and 30, living on the Isle of Wight”.
The fund is for investment in areas such as training, equipment, marketing & promotion, recording, rehearsal space, staging, publishing costs, or simply time to create. Funds are available for those involved in dance/movement, theatre/puppetry, film/video, creative writing/spoken word, music, and creative technical support.
To apply you must live on the Isle of Wight and be at least 18 years of age, but no older than 30. Due to the terms of this Trust, funding is not available for visual artists.
If you fit the bill and have an idea you are burning to put into action, the Trust would love to hear from you. Applications must be submitted online and received no later than 23:59 on Monday 29th August 2022. The next application deadline will be in early 2023.
