Brownies, Guides and Rangers plus Girlguiding leaders from across the Island took over Newport’s JR Zone for an evening of games and fun recently. 150 girls attended enjoying the chance to try out the various attractions on offer including slides, soft play and laserquest. Special rates were offered by JR Zone to Girlguiding Isle of Wight members, enabling the girls to attend, with some units choosing these activities as a special treat. Following the evening one parent said:
“Thank you so much for organising this. My daughter had the very best time and has made some new friends”.
Linda Stone, Island Commissioner added:
“It was great to see 150 girls and young women having a wonderful time and it was a chance for girls from across the Island to get together.”

Shame air bags and seat belts were invented, and as someone said, perhaps fit a spike on the centre boss of the steering wheel, would make everyone drive more carefully.
As pre safety improvements people rarely walked away unharmed, and then, natural selection took the most manic drivers away for good.
Sadly they usually hurt others more than they do themselves, so the sentence OUGHT to be given as if ‘luck’ didn’t exist and that their action could have easily killed or crippled the innocent, yet with the worlds flotsam here, courts can never, ever again give meaningful sentences to all but those who kill, but then, it is all too late.
I’ve never claimed insurance on anything, clean licence and 40 years experience driving car’s and motorcycles, yet my insurance keeps going up every year….That’s down to these idiots, their forcing all of us to pay more…
