Police are investigating reports that 2 children – both aged 11 – were approached and spoken to by a man they did not know in Yarmouth this afternoon (Tuesday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called at around 14:40 to a report of a suspicious incident on St Swithins Crescent in Bouldnor, near Yarmouth.
It’s said that the young girls were not hurt and were able to run off.
They have since returned home.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Officers attended and are due to speak to the children to establish what happened.
“We have not received any other similar reports in the area.”

Everyone thinks I chat rubbish but this is why old should not be allowed out poor kids
“Everyone” is correct !
Yep you chat rubbish, what’s old got to do with anything?. We know nothing else at moment. Could be a pedo ( 16yrs plus ) or someone asking directions or kids being told off or mental health – we can’t assume, let police ask questions
Stop getting your pecker out leave the kids alone
I’m glad they had the sense to run straight home
no description then – why is that -how are the readers of this site, expected to be able to help, if we don’t have a description
did anyone ask you to help ??
No,..
a man, spoke to two children… that’s it… not really news worthy at this stage,.. & certainly nothing that needs YOUR help…
Often if not indigenous the lack of description says it all.
Shame he never had a dog, as the PC lot have not YET banned the mentioning of dog breeds. Give it time
Like most paedos on the Island he will be a fat old gammon.
Dumbest comment ever
No similar incidents, really??? I read this a couple of days ago:
**This has been reported to the police**
I noticed these 2 guys, probably late 20s stood near the play park staring at 2 young girls playing alone in the park. The girls were probably about 11 years old. Maybe a little younger.
I kept a close eye and they just kept staring at the girls. They didn’t approach them or anything, but as I was needing to leave soon I felt really uncomfortable leaving the girls.
I went over and introduced myself and told them how I was feeling. They said they had noticed the men looking. I said I was going to be there for another 10 minutes and I’d like them to head home before I leave and I will make sure the men don’t follow.
Well done you, DOING something useful in protecting them instead of brainless comenting!
It wasn’t me, I was quoting something I’d read.
“I went over and introduced myself and told them how I was feeling.”
how is what you did, any different from what the man in yarmouth is allegedly did….?
it was reported that he went over to them and spoke to them…. that’s all
Are you a child molestor? Since when is it ok for men with no children to hang around playgrounds
where does it say that the man in Yarmouth was hanging around a playground???
me thinks you’re inventing the story in your own head …
It wasn’t me. I was quoting something I’d read.
Wouldn’t it have been better to speak to the two guys?
It wasn’t me, I was quoting something I’d read.
So you’re the man who approached the two eleven year old girls.
What are 2 11 year olds doing out without a guardian? Usual lax parenting again, probably two womb deposits in return for state benefits to fund dope habit, iphone and sky tv subscription.
It was 20 to 3 in the afternoon FFS.
If old gits like you aren’t moaning about how kids spend their time indoors instead of being out in the fresh air “like we used to in the good old days” you are bleating that they ARE out in the fresh air.
Senile old git.
These two girls were out alone in the middle of the afternoon in broad daylight and close to home – they were busy growing up, learning to be aware of who is staring at them and how to sum people up – lessons to be learned so they can keep themselves safe in a few years’ time when they go out at night. Why assume the parents are scrounging drug addicts? Do you know them?
What were you doing at age 11?
One of the girls is my daughter. How dare you write something like this. They were out crabbing and we allowed them for the first time to do something together without adult supervision. This has backfired but at some point you have to let your children go from your apron strings. Children aged 11 get the bus daily, go to the shops, play in the park, anyone can start talking to them. Maybe the man hiding in bushes is a good enough reason to believe that this man was up to no good. My daughter told him that she was not comfortable in talking to him but he kept on. He should have walked away and not keep asking them questions. There is not lax parenting here and I would get your facts right before writing your utter rubbish.
well it is the isle of Wight
Wonder what was actually said. Perhaps, do you girls know where I can catch the ferry or something similar?
When i was 11out on my pushbike, a man approached me and asked where he could get a good shag. Grown men should not be hanging round little girls!
where does it say that the man in Yarmouth was hanging around the 11 year olds?
it says he approached them and spoke to them… nothing more
you really are making this up in your own head aren’t you
Perhaps, to save you having to invent false facts to comment on, IE could follow up with the results of the police speaking to the two girls, & whether the Police think there was anything amis
He should not have kept questioning them when they said they were not comfortable talking to them.
He kept asking them personal questions, my daughter told him she was not comfortable talking to him but he kept on. He should have walked away and not hide in the bushes.
