That graph is far more telling than all the numbers that have been tossed around. It shows where tourism recommenced but numbers are still low. A reasonable balance betweeen health and livelihoods, it seems.

Wait until Pennyfeather and Bullen along with Ashey etc are filled to capacity and then some. More people more disease, more crowed shops, pavements, pubs, beaches etc etc.

This will still be a risk when the last chav is given a free home to abuse.

Brian, this is the second time you’ve brought up those housing estates for a completely irrelevant reason. People, funnily enough need places to live? Or do you have a better idea of where people should live without houses?

That or your just a snob with nothing better to do than moan about people less fortunate than yourself?

Why? What would you do about it, paint crosses on their front doors? You can’t do anything about it, even if you knew who they are. Just download the app and then you’ll know if you are at risk.

Don’t see why you need to know. They’re possibly in hospital anyway depending on age/severity etc. Makes no difference where they are if we’re all following guidelines. It’s on the island always has been so just accept that.

Zero cases from the start would have been great but at the same time 10 confirmed since the start of July is as Eve posts relatively low which is encouraging news. Hope the decline carries on. Still prefer zero. Stay safe everybody.

Nz and Australia are the blue print for the U.K.. if you don’t know what’s happening there, then your in for a shocker! So go ahead, download your app, get yourself tested, but make sure your and your family have packed bags, but your not going on holiday!

Haven’t downloaded the app, haven’t had the need to get tested , no bags packed no holiday planned this side of Christmas. Have closely watched the situations in n.z. and Australia very closely. Even the Aussie prime minister has virtually admitted that any vaccines will be mandatory. I’ve asked many times where has the seasonal flu disappeared to and can’t get any answer. Yes there is a virus out there but is it a mutated form of flu that we have no vaccine for. Similar to the sars3 in 2003 where no vaccine has been found or made yet. Who knows but one things for sure the government won’t give you the truth.

I had a feeling it wasn’t. Just hope people out there do some research like I did and things will suddenly appear to make sense in what you and others are saying. This government are hell bent on seeing out the plans in agenda 21 now agenda 30 . Like I stated there is a nasty new virus out there but how unfortunate deaths were from cancer for example that somehow got into the covid19 figures. Stilllike I said stay safe for now.

I sort of understand what pippin is saying and agree with the location should be common knowledge. I was a holiday maker on the island from 7th-14th August so I’d like to know if it was near where I was staying because although my family were behaving responsibly, the majority were not. I witnessed The postman go into Godshill model village shop using someone’s post to cover his mouth and nose instead of wearing a mask, so you can protect yourself by the rules doesn’t make u immune when other people aren’t.

If you had the app for Covid you would have been contacted, if you are worried go for a test. The onus is ourselves to protect ourselves so wear a mask at all times as you never know, and do not touch face or eyes until you wash hands. This is going to be part of our lives for some years to come so we need to do this “ritual” all the time. I just wish people who wear masks would ensure they cover the nose also, just come back from St Mary’s and there were several “patients” waiting with masks slipped down to top lip – beggars belief! Unfortunately some people are allowed not to wear masks due to medical reasons, these are the ones that need to be identified easily to save any public confrontations – perhaps someone can arrange the manufacture of a mask with a line through it for them to wear – issued by the medical profession only as we all know there is always a smart head who thinks they can buck the system and find it funny to do so. These are the dangerous ones.

Just how many people are left with potentially life changing aliments, and afflictions after contracting CV?

We are always dolefully told the sadly deceased number, and joyfully told of those who have been released from hospital (Being aprox. a frightening 50% ish survival rate back then, IF taken in), but no one states the lives ruined by contracting this vile virus if the survive.

Just would like to know the truth before deciding on whether to risk my children being returned back to the high risk factor of schooling.

I would hate to risk disabling my children for potentially life, just by not waiting a few months until the anti virus cure is available.

Does anyone have a link to such data please?

Numbers will definitely increase once schools open. Bubble groups at schools will be whole year groups. In secondary schools up to about 250. It is already happening in other countries, who are being much stricter with rules/masks etc. Scotland’s cases from the start have been much lower than UK. Already got outbreaks in schools and only been back a short time.

I totally agree with you. Our family were poorly with Covid19 in March/April and our sense of smell taste has still not returned. We also get breathless more easily.

There’s lots of studies being done but still it is early days.

British medical journal:

“A third of doctors have treated patients with long term covid-19 symptoms, including chronic fatigue and anosmia, a survey conducted by the BMA has found.”

Someone ought to get on to all the doctors, surgeons, dentists and health workers then….perhaps they shouldn’t bother with wearing protective masks, visors, gloves and clothes.

Of course , common sense, when on the packet of the masks, it clearly states that they won’t protect you against flu, colds and viruses , sure let’s put them on, cause it’s common sense! Do some research and educate yourself please.

Why do you think medical professionals wear protective equipment? I’ve read many of your posts and You are the one that needs educating. It may not stop the wearer being infected but it will stop the surgeon infecting the patient. I’ve never seen any surgeon or medic NOT wear masks during an operation, even in the field. Basically you are a troll and a bit of a twat.

Really? Well don’t you think that most of the medical professionals are TOLD you will go along with this or else!? Can’t you see that? The doctors that have spoke out against all this have been struck off, and can no longer practice! You really are asleep. And I thought trolls don’t use facts to back up their arguments, they just say stuff to upset. I state facts to inform people, but some people don’t want to wake up and see the real world!

I wonder why surgeons wear a mask? Maybe it could be to prevent the passage of germs from the surgeon’s nose and mouth into the patient’s wound and to protect the surgeon’s face from sprays and splashes from the patient. Jeez it’s not protecting them from the fecking flu now is it! Wakey wakey!

Keep believing it. There are people who unnecessarily panic and worry about Covid and others on the other end of the spectrum, like yourself, who believe it is all rubbish. Neither extreme is helpful, just decisive.

You haven’t really understood where I’m coming from! Never ever said virus isn’t real! It’s the way it’s being used to destroy all our freedom around the world. Flu season 2018, 64,000 deaths, not any lockdowns, mask bs, nothing, just normal life! Government gets caught lying about Covid deaths( there’s a surprise) to get the figures up and still less then flu. If you or anyone else can’t see what’s going on here, then be prepared for the crap coming your way!

I do understand and we both can agree that this pandemic should be managed through a more sensible and common sense approach (rather than blind panic or complete ignorance of it). The stats are a mess but i believe this has been due to incompetence and conflicting scientific assessment rather than a deliberate act – i ignore them. The absence of a vaccine has driven a lot of nervousness and caution. Not all countries are following NZ and Aus, different world leaders have different approaches (look at the US and Brazil) doesn’t mean its an inevitability for the UK.

Oh, welcome Brown, you are a bit late. It’s very sad. You obviously do not understand the difference between a rant and an observation. I suggest you look back on all your old posts where you have regularly ranted your extreme views and thrown insults just because people have the audacity to disagree with your extreme views. Grow up.

Out of those cases how many resulted in deaths? I bet zero. And if there are any deaths probably for other reasons.

Peter, don’t get side-tracked with the death rate, it is not all about that. Covid-19 has the potential to make you very ill and for many weeks if not months. It is this that negatively impacts the economy with workers going off work to first self-isolate and then recover from the illness.

I’ve contracted it. I can tell you that it is nothing like ‘normal’ flu. The other aspect you ignore is that for this strain of the flu virus there is currently no vaccine….unlike ‘normal’ flu. No doubt you’ll be queuing up for your annual jab in September.

I never and will never take a flu or covid vaccine, ever.

Thanks, you have highlighted my point perfectly. People like yourself with hardened one-sided views speak in extremes which are unhelpful as you choose to ignore the bigger picture.

What these sheep like people don’t understand is this vaccine they will be injecting into us all ( not me without a fight) has the protential to kill us! Medicine takes15 yrs to develop,so it’s safe. Vaccines are Not covered by the same laws and regulations, and the people that develop the vaccine cannot be sued if a love one dies of this! Don’t believe me !? Look it up! So ask yourself, are you willing to risk dying through vaccine, or get Covid recover ,and carry on with life, or worse risk a health loved one or child . Just look at the figures of deaths, minimal.

Saying i’ll be first in line assumes in itself that i’ll be taking a vaccine. I would give up while you are behind if i were you……but luckily i’m not. catch you on the next article.

1 case reported yet 24 estimated island cases estimated from the independent, robust and scientific covid research survey from the Covid-19 App from Kings College London. How I wish islanders would stop guessing, betting, opinionating and being generally rude about this pandemic when there is such an excellent source of information that will give you a much better and reliable picture of what is really happening here from highly qualified experts and not ill informed, ignorant simpletons. Just take a few minutes to research this and sign up.
