Several parcels of land on and around Perowne Way in Sandown, which includes grassed areas, pavements and roads, are to go under the hammer at auction next month.
The land – which adds up to around 5 acres in total – is remnants of the housing development built by Davis Estates, who held onto the freehold titles of the roadways, verges and pavements. Davis Estates were a major housebuilder established in the 1940s and responsible for building thousands of houses across the UK up until the 1980s.
The land at Perowne Way has been unexpectedly inherited by the family who didn’t know they owned the land until recently.
Bidders may be looking to grab a building plot for a house or garden extension, or perhaps additional parking. But local residents say they are concerned about the prospect of a new landowner coming in.
Charles Darrow is auctioning the land, which has a guide price of £5,000, on 17th March. You can see more information at https://www.charlesdarrow.co.uk/propertyInfo/20182/for-sale/Investment-Land-_and-Development,-Auctions/Sandown-Isle-of-Wight/.
Could be bought up and built upon, or small parcels could be bought and used to install electric car charging points to make the owner a good profit.
It will sell for way higher as even if people lived in a caravan on each plot, it will take years before the council evict them, cheap way of living. Caravan been on downs for years now.
IF I lived there I would buy to stop the dregs of society making temp/permanent homes there
i would not get hopes too high… prepare for the worst.
Why prepare for the worst ? When you can stop it in the first place.
But, I see what you mean.
People will no doubt do nothing until it is to late and then spend the rest of there life moaning about it.
I could not agree more, I would prefer it to be stopped if possible.
Yes, your right mate.
If I lived down there, I would organize a syndicate asap to buy the land.
If the wrong type of person buys it, God help yer. The value on your property will go right down.
Perowne way is already full of dregs
disgusting this is…. should be ashamed all those involved in selling it…. as long its not on your doorstep, wipe it off… greedy so and so…. disgusting move.
is the Sandown Parish and Council aware of this? This needs to be stopped before it goes pear shaped. Horrendous.
Surely somebody has maintained these areas, they should now put their bills in now they know the owners
Yes, who’s been/will be cutting the grass from now on ?
I know who will be interested in buying it though.
FAIRWAY CARAVAN PARK.
God help the residents of perowne way, £20 a month service charge for cutting there grass.
With the odd caravan dotted about to help the traveling community.
