Young people and families from South Wight Area Youth (SWAY) have once again enjoyed the ‘Cook Along’ this Winter, through the generosity of the Ventnor Co-op.
The community-minded donation has given a huge boost to reducing the cost of this project, without which many young people and families would have lost out.
The online cooking session is open to any of the young people and families involved with SWAY. The young people and their families choose a wide range of recipes during the months of November through to March to cook approximately every fortnight. Anything from 5 to 12 young people and their families cook online together learning new skills and trying new ingredients, not just having fun with their friends, but producing a tasty, healthy, affordable meal for their the whole household.
This year with the generous donations from Ventnor Co-op the ingredients for each week’s recipe was delivered to their home a day before the online cook. On the evening of the cook, every family joins the zoom link to ‘cook along’ together led by a young person or a family as the lead cook and SWAY staff and volunteers.
At the end of the session, they all submit a photograph of their finished dish before they sit down to eat and catch up with the week’s happenings.
Thank you to Ventnor Co-op and all those young people and their families taking part for making SWAY’s ‘Cook Along’ another successful winter project.
Well done to the CO-OP
