Yarmouth RNLI were involved in a major search operation in the Solent last night (Saturday) after several red flares were seen near Hurst Castle.
HM Coastguard received multiple reports of red flares being seen at Hurst Castle just before 22:00 last night
Lymington and Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Teams, Coastguard Helicopter 175 and Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat were sent.
In extremely tricky and adverse conditions, a thorough and extensive search was carried out, several expired flares were found dry and on land, with nothing untoward found in the water.
