Cowes RNLI lifeboat went to the aid of a broken down yacht at lunchtime (Wednesday).
Soon after abandoning the search for a missing jet skier, Solent Coastguard re-tasked the Cowes volunteers.
The 25ft yacht suffered engine failure close to the mouth of Beaulieu River.
The casualty vessel, which had then anchored, was towed by the lifeboat to Gins Farm on Beaulieu River.
