A woman who was spotted on the cliff edge at Culver Down earlier this afternoon (Wednesday) is now in the care of health professionals.
Police responded to concerns for the welfare of the individual, who was reported to be on the wrong side of the fence, at 13:53.
Officers attended and assisted the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Suicide Prevention and Intervention IOW – a charitable group – with resolving the issue.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and The Needles responded to the scene in the interests of safety.
The woman was detained under the Mental Health Act and is now in the care of the appropriate service.

Hope she gets the help she needs..
I have been over the fence when looking for the Hermit’s hole, lets hope it is a case of mistaken intent.
Let’s support the Suicide Prevention & Intervention team tomorrow on World Suicide Day
Well done to all the services for helping the lady I hope she gets some help x
Culver can be very enticing at times when one’s head is in a bad place. Best wishes to this lady xx
Deepest sympathy with this woman and her family. Very glad she is safe and in care. Unfortunately there are many others out there that need organisations like the Suicide Prevention and Intervention. If you know anybody that shows early signs contact the organisation as soon as possible. Let’s hope that this poor woman is cured.
WTF!!!!!
why is there always someone that writes stupid negative comments. Hope your never in a bad spot!!!
Returning here to see how many downvotes I might have earned, I was surprised to find my comment disappeared.
Wonder whether my interpretation of the article, criticism of it, or both killed my comment?
No matter, I find this censorship illuminating.
