Wow ! All that damage at just 30 mph… !! Well, that is the speed limit there is it not ?
Think of the families before posting with no facts.
If you bothered to learn maths at school you’d realise that 2×30=60
Yes, also modern cars are designed to crush like this to absorb a lot of the energy. Makes it look worse.
P@#$ off Dave. They’re appealing for witnesses and all you can contribute is a flippant remark like that.
If both vehicles were traveling at 30 mph wouldn’t they have collided at 60 mph?
No that is a myth. If 2 cars travelling at 30mph of equivalent weight collide it’s the same as hitting a wall at 30mph if it was an HGV it’s a bit different I always used to think this until I watched many experiments showing otherwise
Thanks for that Dohey88, In the 80’s (My Youth) with the hot hatches the roads on the Island were bad but of late lockdown has been quite shocking according to the daily reports of accidents.
Hope they recover well.
Comments should be banned on here .as most are spiteful vindictive uneducated trash by keyboard warriors shame on you
and the rest are by island drivers fed up with these crashes.
Seen a blue Mazda on days prior driving errectly. Was previously reported to police. Overtaking 2-3 cars in short space time in 30mph and 40mph zones on same stretch of road and almost colliding with oncoming vehicles. If it was same driver this was always going to end this way.
IF so, lets hope they suffer the pain they would not care about putting other families through. Rarely though does such manic drivers get hurt themselves, usually the innocents pay their debt for them.
Just been on holiday on the IOW and surprised there are not more road accidents. The standard of driving is abismal. People driving in the middle of the narrow country roads round blind bends well above a safe speed thinking they are in a rally. You need more traffic police out on the roads.
Please don’t return, as more mainland traffic only adds to the misery on the roads.
Wales is very nice, consider there next year?
Your advice Danny unfortunately does nothing to justify the bad, speeding drivers here on the island. Russell is right, the island roads are bad and getting worse. We do need more Policing on our roads.
Let a few Island businesses know your feelings, especially those that rely on visitors to survive.
Try telling that to the Police…
I live here on the island and whole heartedly agree with you Russell, some drivers here shouldn’t be allowed to drive a car, they haven’t a clue how to drive SAFELY. I have an advanced driving license and I can tell you when I’m in my car I cringe when I see some of the things IOW drivers do. Remember everyone, SPEED KILLS on country roads driving like looneys. Motorway driving I found to be much safer so that gives all you wanna be Fast and Furious drivers a clue. SLOW DOWN.
I hope the crash investigation team can determine who/what was at fault because this accident looks horrendous. Yes, the roof has been cut off the car by the fire department but looking at the damage to both vehicles and the gent in the car air lifted to S’oton General, it looks bad. Hope the guy in the car is ok.
