A 34-year-old man from Newport has been flown to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Shide during the early hours of yesterday morning.
As first reported by Island Echo, emergency services were called to Shide Road in Newport at around 02:23 after a Mercedes A180 crashed into a bollard and 2 walls.
Hampshire Constabulary are now appealing for witnesses to this serious collision as officers investigate the exact cause of the crash. On-scene investigations have been taking place today and CRASH boards have been erected.
Police are keen to speak with anyone who has information. Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw the vehicle earlier on, or have dash-cam footage?

Should it be made that insurance and tax is included in the price of the sale of any vehicle by law? To avoid cheapskates dipping out like this one?

Impossible to do as everyone’s insurance is different and it wouldn’t work with private sales. How would you be able to sort someone’s insurance out who buys your car and know how much to charge?
