WINTER RISE IN ISLAND JOB SEEKERS

jobcentresignThe number of people claiming the unemployment benefit Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) rose by 102 last month.

In January a total of 2,072 Islanders were claiming the benefit, a rise from 1,970 people who were claiming during December last year.

Despite the rise, which was expected at the depths of winter, there were still 1,087 more people in work compared to January 2014.
