Wightlink will be reducing sailings on its Yarmouth-Lymington car ferry route to a 2-hourly service using 1 ship from Monday 9th November 2020.
The cross-Solent operator has made the announcement following the Government’s announcement of restrictions on non-essential travel to curb the spread of COVID-19.
While the company is reviewing demand for its Portsmouth-Fishbourne car ferries and FastCat passenger service during the pandemic, scheduled services are currently running normally.
Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield says:
“Many customers have already cancelled their bookings and fewer people are expected to use the service during the lockdown.
“We are sorry if this disrupts the travel plans of some of our customers, but we have plenty of capacity on our routes to carry everyone who needs to travel at this time and will, of course, continue to prioritise freight and other essential supplies for the Island.”
Wightlink is working closely with the Isle of Wight Council during the COVID crisis. While it is permitted to cross the Solent for work, education, medical appointments and other essential reasons as outlined in official Government advice it is not allowed to travel for non-essential reasons such as holidays, shopping or to visit a second home.

what a load of bollocks all this is this crap wont make the slighest bit of difference we,ve got got next to fxxkall on the island compared to the huge populations of the cities all this is going to do is destroy firms and the poor people losing there jobs with no chance of finding fxxkal for months to come.. right on christmas too load of bollocks.
Couldn’t agree more – extremely low rates yet we are treated the same as the rampant people up north who can’t control themselves outdoors.
All this is doing is pushing people into debt and misery followed by mental health problems and worse after that.
I think what your saying is a load of bo###ks if we keep letting the idiots that don’t think this is all real keep coming over here then we won’t be safe two ferry’s a day one each way both with freight and passengers that need to comute keep us safe over here
