The Wightlink Warriors will take on the Mildenhall Fen Tigers at Smallbrook Stadium tonight (Tuesday) in a team challenge speedway match.
Following strong crowd turnouts at previous meetings this season, another busy, family-friendly atmosphere is expected as the Fen Tigers make the trip ahead of their return to staging speedway at their West Row Stadium in September.
The visiting side boasts a dynamic mix of experience and youth, featuring James Shanes, Connor Coles, Max Broadhurst, Kenzie Cossey, Harrison Rogers and Polish rider Patryk Daniszewski. Tigers Team Manager Kieran Philips has assembled a competitive lineup for what will be the club’s first away fixture in several years.
For the Warriors, Team Manager Martin Widman has confirmed Henning Loof, Darryl Ritchings, Charlie Southwick and Harley Freeman will take to the track. However, the team has been dealt a blow with captain Arran Butcher ruled out due to a hand injury that has not healed as hoped.
Martin Widman, Warriors Team Manager, has said:
“I’m really looking forward to welcome the Fen Tigers to Smallbrook and we certainly wish them every success on their return to speedway. I am sure this will be a very exciting match with some top riders in the teams who have produced some super action this season already.
“We of course know they are coming to try to win and we need to be at our best to prevent it.”
The evening begins with kids on track at 18:10, followed by the riders’ parade at 18:45. The main event starts at 19:00. Admission is £15 for adults, £12 for seniors, and children enter free.
Organisers have extended thanks to the many volunteers who make each event possible, and to Wightlink for supporting rider and staff travel across the Solent.
