The latest good cause to be supported by Wightlink is the Lucie Blackman Trust (LBT), it has been announced by the cross-Solent company.
Following the disappearance of Islander Tim Blackman’s daughter Lucie in Japan in 2000, the Ryde-based charity helps victims of serious crimes overseas and their families. It has established Missing Abroad to provide the unique expertise, practical help, advice and support needed by families at the most traumatic times.
Chief Executive Matt Searle says:
“Sadly, around 60 British people a year are killed abroad, there is much work for us to do and we value Wightlink’s help.”
Wightlink Customer Relations Manager Daisy Dawes says:
“We were impressed with all the support the Trust gives to people throughout the UK, through its organisation Missing Abroad and are delighted to help them with their work.”
In 2014, Wightlink will support Island charities, arts groups, sports teams and 62 talented athletes to the tune of £350,000.
