The Wight Strollers are set to bring another day of family fun to Rookley Village Hall and Sports Field on Sunday 27th July, with their second Summer Fun Day, following the success of their inaugural event in 2023.
Well-known for their popular pantomimes, musicals and colourful carnival entries since their founding in 1980, The Wight Strollers have raised over £250,000 for Isle of Wight charities and good causes over the past 45 years – a total they hope to increase with this year’s Fun Day.
Running from 11:00 until 16:00, entry is just £2 for adults with free admission for children, promising a packed day for all ages.
Entertainment in the main arena will include performances from Wight Diamonds, Isle of Wight Highland Pipes & Drums, Mr. Baker’s Dozen Morris Dancers, the Long Island Stompers and Huxley Magic. There will also be a family fun dog show for proud pet owners to get involved in, plus a ‘just for fun’ Sports Day.
Music lovers can look forward to sets from Island acts including The Tuesdayz, The Watch, Double Take, Rob Bingham and Emily Scotcher.
A variety of stalls will offer locally-made crafts, jewellery and dog accessories, while food and drink options include Wight Ices, the Isle of Wight Bacon Company, Island Sweet Dreams’ Mac ‘n’ Cheese truck, a Strollers-run bar and a tearoom stocked with homemade cakes.
Families can also enjoy an archery demonstration from Time Jump Histories, Tag Commander laser tag, pony rides with Kitbridge Hollow Riding Academy and traditional games like glitter tattoos, Hook A Duck and the ‘Human Fruit Machine’.
Attendees are advised to bring cash as some games and stalls will be cash-only. Parking will be available in a field opposite the venue and will be clearly signposted.
