Curtain Call Creative are busy this month with not one but two shows. First, to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE-Day, ‘Last Night at the Proms’ is staged at Shanklin Theatre on Saturday 10th May, in aid of the Royal British Legion. TheatreTrain’s Mad About the Movies comes to East Cowes Town Hall on 18th May – this is a chance for the younger students aged 4-11 to show off their voices and their moves, and from what we hear it’s already sold out! All the best to them.
But it’s not all about the youngsters! ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ will be staged by Bembridge Little Theatre Club at Bembridge Village Hall from 22nd – 25th May including a Sunday matinee. Described as “A wonderful stage adaptation based on the original TV series by Tina Sitka.”, the show features all the familiar characters from the popular sitcom. Finally, CAODS bring ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ to Trinity Theatre from 28th May – 1st June. In one of Shakespeares most perennially popular comedies, a young woman, Hermia flees ancient Athens with her lover. Only to be pursued by her would be husband and her best friend. Unwittingly all four find themselves in an enchanted forest, where fairies and sprits take an interest in the human affairs.
The production is set in the 1940s in the mortal world as the company pay respects to all our veterans on the anniversary of D-Day. So come and see this wonderful talented company as they take on a popular Shakespeare classic.
