Local weather forecaster IW Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds and heavy rain this weekend.
It is predicted that between 12:00 on Sunday (26th January) and 11:00 on Monday (27th January), several spells of heavy rain and strong winds are expected.
Firstly, through Sunday afternoon, around 10-15mm of rain could fall accompanied by winds of up to 60mph. Then, during Sunday evening, a second spell of around 15-20mm of rain – accompanied by winds of between 60-70mph – could be seen.
A further spell of wind and rain seems likely to fall during Monday morning too.
The above adverse weather could lead to dangerous driving conditions on the local road network with debris – such as fallen trees – set to pose a problem too.
Cross-Solent travel disruption is also expected as is potential structural damage to buildings and property.
Storm Eowyn has already caused significant disruption to the Island today (Friday) with services on Red Jet and Hovertravel currently suspended due to adverse conditions on the Solent.
