Local weather forecaster IW Met Service has issued a weather warning for both heavy rain and severe gales which look set to batter the Island later this week.
A spell of heavy and persistent rain is expected from around 16:00 on Friday afternoon (6th December) with 20-30mm likely to fall in some areas.
The blustery winds look set to grace the Island between 22:00 on Friday and 10:00 on Saturday morning (7th December). South-westerly gusts of 70mph are possible around exposed coastal areas and over high ground, with these gales then turning into the west-northwest with further gusts of 60-70mph possible in some places.
Islanders should be wary of possible road flooding and the possibility of some water sources breaching their banks. There may well also be disruption to cross-Solent travel.
Only a matter of time before Leeson Road
will be closed again.
