Work to replace 660m of water mains in Brading is to get underway tomorrow (Wednesday), leaving motorists faced with at least 6 weeks of disruption.
Southern Water are carrying out the replacement work to reduce the risk of bursts and to ensure they can continue to provide a constant supply of high quality drinking water to customers.
A new pipe is to be laid along the main Ryde to Sandown road between Yar Cross and Sandown, with new pipes also being laid on Old Morton Road, Hadrians Way and Claredon Close.
The water company say they expect the overall work to be completed by May 2017 using a combination of traditional ‘open cut’ techniques alongside advanced ‘no-dig’ technology to lay the new pipe. Motorists are being advised that delays are likely around Yar Cross for the next 6 weeks.
A spokesperson for Southern Water has said:
“We’ll be doing all we can to keep disruption to a minimum and would like to thank customers for their patience.”
