Lil Thorburn was a huge speedway fan and now her son, John, has continued his sponsorship of the Warriors in Lil’s memory for the coming 2017 season.
In addition to the sponsorship, John has continued with the exciting ‘Lil Thorburn Challenge’ which sees a prize of £250 for the fastest 4 laps by a Warrior in 2017.
John Thorburn said:
“This month sees the 2nd anniversary of Lil’s passing and she was a massive speedway fan. It will be fantastic to again look up a see her name on the air fence looking over Smallbrook the home of speedway and I believe she would feel at home shaking hands with the fastest Warrior.”
Warriors Commercial Director Barry Bishop said:
“To remember Lil in this way is wonderful and I am so proud that John has chosen to continue into 2017 with the Warriors. I firmly believe that Lil’s challenge was an incentive for our riders to put in the best four laps they could in 2016 so we are delighted that is set to continue.
“We know that speedway was a big part of Lil’s life and as a club we are honoured that John keeps Lil involved with the Warriors in this way and in doing so makes a difference to the Warriors both on and off the track.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome John and Lil’s Challenge back to the Warriors Sponsorship Team.”
