Wroxall-based Morgan Williams has been announced as the final member of the Wightlink Warriors 2021 team.
He is the first person from the Island to represent the club at this level as he continues to show great promise for the future.
Morgan is said to have a willingness to listen carried into some tenacious riding during practice sessions at My First Skid (MFS), the speedway training school based at the Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde.
Warriors Team Manager Steve Piper has said:
“I’m really pleased to complete the Warrior quartet with local lad Morgan Williams. Having watched his progress at MFS and then with the Wightlink Wizards development team, he is now ready to don a Warriors race jacket. He really wants this. I’m so impressed with his attitude as well as his ability and I’m delighted he agreed to step up. It shows how a local lad can start as a complete novice and with application move through the development stages into the main body of the club’s principal team.”
Warrior Williams adds:
“I’m very excited to have been called up to ride for the Warriors. It’s a great opportunity for me to get more race experience.
“Despite some considerable time off due to the Covid crisis, it’s great to have the Speedway School back up and running, I’ve brushed off the cobwebs and got myself back to a level I’m happy with just now, but I’m sure I can do even better and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me thus far.
“Becoming a Warrior is a big move up in my development plan and I couldn’t have done it without that massive support from everyone. I think it’s well known that Smallbrook is my favourite track, and I’ll be doing my very best for both the Warriors and the Wizards in the meetings this summer.”
You can see the local boy on track at the Smallbrook Stadium during the 7-week racing season which starts on Thursday 22nd July.

Well done and good luck on your first season..
