Christ Church, on Sandown Broadway, and Sandown Town Council have combined to provide a Warm Space for local residents, on Mondays between 11:00 and 15:00 in the winter months.
The Church will be open weekly from 31st October, with volunteers providing support and a drop-in facility, with hot soup for all that pop in.
Rev Mark Williams has said:
“We recognise the rise in the cost of living, and the other pressures on families and individuals, and are grateful for the support of the Town Council to provide a warm space for those that need it’.
Town Mayor Paddy Lightfoot added
‘”We have secured matched funding from the IW Council, and thank the Church for providing hot drinks, soup and socialisation for residents faced with rising energy bills and food costs.”

Obviously every little helps, but 4 hours, one day a week at the warmest time of day – seriously?
